Stewart S. Chandler (33) of Vandalia

Stewart S. Chandler, 33, of Vandalia, died at 9:45 a.m. Saturday, July 24, 2021 in rural Mulberry Grove as the result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Friday, July 30, 2021 at Liberty Christian Church, rural Brownstown with Pee Wee Denton officiating. Burial will follow at Pilcher Cemetery, rural Brownstown with military rites by Crawford Hale American Legion Post #95, Vandalia and Brownstown VFW Post #9770. Visitation will be from 4:00- 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 29, 2021 at the church and for one hour prior to service time. Memorials may be made to the family, Sons of Service, Keyesport, or the donor’s choice. Gieseking Funeral Home, Brownstown is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.

Stewart Samuel Chandler was born on May 8, 1988 in Effingham to Lucien and Wendy (Hill) Chandler. He was employed with Chandler Tire & Auto, St. Elmo, affiliated with New Hope Church, Effingham, a member of the Vandalia Moose Club, Sons of Service Riding Club and ABATE of Illinois and a US Army veteran.

He is survived by: his wife, Dana Chandler of Vandalia; parents; father and stepmother, Lucien and Ellie Chandler of St. Elmo, mother and stepfather, Wendy and Jeff Faulkner of Effingham; mother-in-law, Diana Rine of Vandalia; stepson, Brandon Simmons of Vandalia; stepdaughter, Gracey Simmons of Vandalia; daughter, Hollace Eckhardt of Vandalia; brothers, Ryan Kolby (Brittney) Bissell of Clarksville, TN, Levi Keith Chandler of St. Elmo, Daniel Thayer of Bishop, GA, Adam (Misty) Thayer of Palm Harbor, FL, Deacon (Donna) Faulkner of Neoga, and Evan Holt of Tampa, FL; sister, Kayla Marie Zumwalt of Effingham; step maternal grandparents, Yvonne McCormick of Glendale, AZ and Richard Smith of Louisville and step paternal grandparents Robert and Joyce Faulkner of Effingham; paternal grandparents, Roger and Jackie Chandler of Brownstown; aunts and uncles, Adam (Leanna) Chandler, Clay (Buffy) Chandler, Trina (Jeff) Cage, Sara (Troy) Frutiger, Michael McCormick, Richard (Jeannette) Bishop, Donna Matenich, Denise Dhoms, Nancy (Dustin Whitis) McGivney, Donna Caslin, and Janet Atchison and many cousins.

Stewart was preceded in death by his brother, Lucas Chandler; maternal grandparents, Tom and Ruth Hill; father-in-law, Don Rine; uncles, Sam Chandler, Rick Caslin and Billy Atchison; maternal step grandfather, Raymond McCormick and maternal step grandmother, Lola Smith.
