Austin D. Frutiger, 33, of Brownstown, passed away on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at Salem Township Hospital, Salem, IL.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am Monday, July 26, 2021 at the First Christian Church, Brownstown with Rev. Doug Wodtka officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00pm Sunday at the First Christian Church, Brownstown and 1 hour prior to services at the church Monday. Burial will follow in Griffith Cemetery, Brownstown. Austin was born July 29, 1987, in Vandalia, the son of Daniel and Gloria (Sigrist) Frutiger. He graduated from Brownstown High School in 2005, and completed the HVAC program at Kaskaskia College before beginning work for the Sheet Metal Workers Local 268. He married Kimberly L. Koonce on June 30, 2018; with this union he gained three stepdaughters. Austin loved the Kansas City Chiefs, golfing, riding side by sides, and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his mother, Gloria Frutiger; wife, Kim Frutiger; step daughters, Lexi and husband Jared Winters, Kyrstyn Fitch, and Kinley “Stink” Schwarm; grandson, Hudson Winters all of Brownstown; grandmother, Juanita Sigrist of Farina; father and mother-in-law, Danny and Vicki Koonce of Brownstown; brother-in-law, Brad Koonce and wife Michelle of Brownstown; aunts; uncles; cousins; and his canine companion, Chief.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dan Frutiger; maternal grandfather, Albert Sigrist; paternal grandparents, Arnold and Lela Frutiger.
