Betty Jane Hicks, age 82, of Newton passed away Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Illinois.
Funeral services celebrating Betty’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 24, 2021 at the Crain Funeral Home, Newton with Rev. Amy Jefferies officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until time of service Saturday, July 24 at the funeral home. Burial will be in the West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Newton.
Betty was born on June 15, 1939, in Jasper County, Illinois the daughter of Roscoe E. and Mabel Lucille (Specht) Hicks. Betty worked for the Essex Wiring Plant for many years. After the plant relocated, she was a home healthcare provider. Betty was a faithful member of Grace United Methodist Church. She enjoyed tending her flowers and garden.
She will be loved and remembered by cousins Eloise (Charles) Fritschle of Newton and Carolyn (Donald) Rubsam of Baldwin, MO; and many dear friends.
Her parents, cousin Herman Calvert, and special friend Louie Doan preceded her in death.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Grace United Methodist Church.
