Jim loved a good poker game, and he loved to cheer on the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears. He served as a Board Trustee for the Village of Jewett. He played Santa Claus in Jewett for many years, until his Parkinson’s Disease no longer allowed him to do so. Jim loved taking care of his lawn, and loved being outside. Most days you would find him sitting on his porch, or out by his garage. In the past, Jim has won horseshoe tournaments, Christmas Lighting Contests, and made many Christmas decorations. His greatest loves in life were his grandchildren: Aja, Anika, Jakota and Jasper.

Surviving is his wife, Linda of Jewett; his daughter, Misty (Jim) Ervin of Toledo; grandchildren, Aja Bauguss (Alisa Clark) of Jewett; Anika Ervin (Alex McGinnis) of Toledo; Jakota and Jasper Ervin, both of Toledo; two sisters, Pat (Larry) Andrews of Willow Hill and Carol Shook of Oblong; sister-in-law, Billie (Wes) Chambers of Toledo; brothers-in-law, Mike (Sue) Bauguss of Greenup and Tom (DeeAnn) Bauguss of Greenup; and many nieces and nephews, including special niece Chasity (Brian) Dunaway, and great-niece, Liberty Dunaway.
