Marshall William “Fireball” Taggart, age 90, of Hazel Dell, Illinois, passed away at 9:23 AM Saturday, June 12, 2021, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana.

Funeral services celebrating Marshall’s life will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, June 21, 2021, at the Hazel Dell Church of God in Hazel Dell, Illinois, with Pastor Brooke Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Hazel Dell South Cemetery in Hazel Dell, Illinois, with full military rites by the Cumberland County Veterans Association. Visitation will be held 1 hour before the service in the church. Masonic rites will be held at the beginning of the funeral service. In loving memory of Marshall, memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital. Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home – Bishop Chapel in Greenup, Illinois. Marshall William better known to his family and friends as “Fireball” was born on November 13, 1930, in Hazel Dell, Illinois, the son of Wayne Frederick Taggart and Dorothy A. (Comer) Taggart. He married Patricia Eileen Koltveit on December 29, 1999, and she preceded him in death on June 10, 2021.

Marshall served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Marshall was a lifelong farmer and businessman. He owned and operated Greenup Grain Company and Taggart Trucking for 38 years. He also owned and operated Taggart Ag Service. Marshall was a member of the Greenup Southern Baptist Church and former member of the Hazel Dell Church of God. Marshall was a Mason and a member of the Casey Lodge #442, 32nd Degree Mason and member of the Scottish Rite - Valley of Danville, Shriner and member of the Ainad Temple. He also was a member of the Greenup VFW and the American Legion.

Marshall is survived by: Daughters – Ramona Taggart of Hephzibah, Georgia and Cindy (Bruce) Toler of Mesa, Arizona; Step Children – Suzanne Fourman-Pittsley, Michael Montgomery of Camden, Tennessee; Thomas (Grace) Montgomery of Weldon, Illinois; Valerie (Michael) Griffin of Camargo, Illinois and Theenda (Aaron) Wilson of Tuscola, Illinois; Grandchildren – Andrew McVaigh, Jackie Butler, Derek McVaigh, Matthew Taggart and Melanie Pattenaude; 9 Step Grandchildren 14 Great Grandchildren 10 Step Great Grandchildren; Brother – Victor Taggart of Hazel Dell, Illinois.

Marshall was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sons Randall Taggart and Michael Taggart and brothers Harold Taggart and Hershall Wayne Taggart.
