Sharon Irene Jewell (66) of Effingham

Sharon Irene Jewell, 66, of Effingham, IL, passed away in the early morning on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at Effingham Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral home.

Sharon was born on September 4, 1954, in Effingham, IL, the daughter of Edward and Lora (Gillespie) Jewell. She married Michael D. Loy on August 11, 1971, and to this union four children were born: Michael, Jackie, Lora “SueAnn”, and Scott. They were married 30 years and lifelong friends.

Sharon was a caregiver for many years. Sharon loved to dance, sing, and Karaoke with her companion Kenneth. She never met a stranger and was an independent woman. Her family was the most important thing to her and she cared deeply for them. She loved spending time and singing to her grandchildren.

Sharon is survived by her children, Michael N. Loy of Effingham, Jackie (Bill) Gordon of Altamont, Lora “SueAnn” (Tim) O’Dell of Shumway, and Scott (Jessica) Loy of Effingham; grandchildren, Ashton Loy, Shannon Loy, Maegon Loy, Corrina (fiancé, Zack Teets) Gordon, Shelby Gordon, Keidrah Wert, Melinda (fiancé, Brock) O’Dell, Dakota O’Dell, Allie Loy, and McKenzie Loy; bonus grandchildren, Kavin McWhorter, Starlit Schlanser, Shaelyn Schlanser, and Liam O’Dell, 5 great-grandchildren; siblings, Emma (George) Van Luven, Jim (Becky) Jewell, and Bruce Jewell; and her companion for over 20 years, Kenneth Bell.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Edward Jewell Jr., and grandson, Devon Loy.
