Carolyn Sue Kingston, age 83, of Vernon, Illinois passed away on Sunday, May 23, 2021 at Cascade Valley Hospital in Arlington, Washington.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at Pagel Funeral Homes in St. Elmo, Illinois. Graveside service will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery in Chester, Illinois. Carolyn was born on April 18, 1938 in Knoxville, Tennessee, the daughter of Stanley Rose and Mary Rosalie (Broom) McDaniel. She married Billy “Bill” Gene Kingston on December 25, 1953 in East Carondelete, Illinois. She loved hummingbirds and her cat, Licorice. Carolyn was known as the “card lady” because she would send cards to everyone she ever met for all occasions. She was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Scholastic Honor’s Society. Carolyn was a nurse at Friendship Manor, where she retired.

She is survived by her sons, William Kingston (wife Judy) of St. Elmo, Illinois, Kenneth Kingston (wife Kelly) of Arlington, Washington, Ed Kingston of Sandoval, Illinois; brother, Richard McDaniel (wife Claudia) of The Villages, Florida; sister, Dale Cheri Piper of Marietta, Georgia and Shirley Pennebaker (husband Jim) of LaGrange, Georgia; 14 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 4 great great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Mary Rosalie McDaniel; husband, Bill Kingston; brothers, David McDaniel and Stanley McDaniel; sisters-in-law, Linda McDaniel and Bernice McDaniel; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Kingston.
