Vernon G. Jamison, 75 of Effingham, passed away Friday, May 21, 2021 at Carle Hospital in Champaign, surrounded by his loving family. 

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at First Christian Church in Effingham with burial in Arborcrest Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the church. Memorial donations may be given to the First Christian Church in Effingham or to the donor’s choice.

Vernon was born February 14, 1946 in Terre Haute, Indiana, the son of Lee and Betty (Ashley) Jamison. He married Shirley Buhler on March 15, 1969. Vernon enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing, gardening, and spending time with his family. He was a member of fishing clubs in his younger years, and his most recent fishing was with his grandchildren on the lake. He always had a smile on his face and brought one to everyone he was around. He enjoyed watching Dolphin's, Cardinal’s and Illini games and having gatherings with his family. His faith in God was unconditional, and he shared that faith with his family and friends. He was an active member in his church and will be missed by everyone who knew him.

Vernon is survived by his wife, Shirley of Effingham; son, Kevin (Barb) Jamison of Watson; daughters, Laurie (Jeff) Akeman of Effingham, Janet (Todd) Waymoth of Effingham, Tina (fiancé, Todd) of Effingham and Melissa (Jamie) Berlin of Marshall; brothers, Joe (Janet) Jamison of Effingham and Steve Jamison of Mountain Home, AR; sister, Betty Lou (Larry) Hall of Montrose; 17 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Vernon was preceded in death by his parents; twin brother, Gernon; brother, George and sisters, Zula Smith and Rosalie Swett.
