James David Blan, Sr., 81 of Mattoon, Illinois passed away in his home at 10:25 am Saturday, May 15, 2021.

James was born on October 23, 1939 in Decatur Illinois. The Son of Elzra and Hazel (Furry) Blan. He Married Gloria Vannier then later married Marilyn Hellman August 1, 2004 in Mattoon Illinois. Mr. Blan retired as a maintenance construction worker for the Decatur Housing Authority in Decatur Illinois. James was a member The Bethel Baptist Church in Jacksonville Illinois and New Mercy Fellowship Center in Mattoon Illinois Where he received Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at both establishments. He was a member of the local Iron Workers Union # 151.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Blan of Mattoon Illinois; children Linda Elston of Jacksonville Illinois, Debbie (Steve) Cobb of Pittsfield, Illinois, Randy (Karen) Blan of Joliet, Illinois, Rhonda (John) Teaney of Springfield, Illinois, Joe (Sherry) Blan of Joliet Illinois Mike (Chris) Blan of Joliet Illinois, James Blan Jr. of Mattoon Illinois, and Lori (Ellis) Frailey of Neoga Illinois. James has 30 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren.

James was proceeded in death by his parents and one daughter Sue Ann Dunn. James now stands before his Savior Jesus Christ in his forever new home in heaven.

Memorials are suggested to the family C/O Lori Frailey 680 E CR 900 N Neoga Illinois 62447. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, May 20, 2021 in the Swengel O'Dell Funeral Home in Neoga Illinois. Visitation will be Thursday, May 20, 2021 from 9:00 am until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Gaskill Cemetery in Ash Grove Township, Shelby County, Illinois
