Imogene McElroy (93) of Mt. Zion

Imogene McElroy, 93, of Mt. Zion, IL passed away at 12:50 a.m. on Saturday, May 15, 2021, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loved ones.

Imogene was born on October 21, 1927, in Tower Hill, the daughter of William Floyd and Edna Marie (Banning) Pfeiffer. She was a 1945 graduate of Tower Hill High School and a former member of the United Methodist Church in Tower Hill. Imogene married Halden Earl McElroy and from that union they were blessed with three children: James, Richard and Mary. Imogene enjoyed reading and cherished time spent with her loved ones.

Imogene will lovingly be remembered by her sons: James (Susan) McElroy of Shelbyville and Richard McElroy of Dongola; daughter, Mary High of Mt. Zion; four grandchildren: Grant and Nathan McElroy, both of Madison, WI, and Jordan and Sean High, both of Mt. Zion.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Rosella Oak and brother, Hubert Pfeiffer.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 in Tower Hill Cemetery with Pastor Rena Whitcher officiating. Memorials may be made in Imogene’s honor to the donor’s favorite charity. Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville is assisting the family.
