John R. Rich (62) of Effingham

John R. Rich, 62, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Friday, May 7, 2021 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL.

There will be no public services held at this time. A memorial service will be held at a later date this summer. Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham, IL is assisting the family.

John was born on September 15, 1958, in Oblong, IL, the son of George and Eva (Murry) Rich. He graduated in 1977 from Newton Community High School with high honors. He went on to graduate from Lake Land College with a degree in Accounting. He settled down in Effingham, IL and was employed at Quad Graphics for over thirty years. He had an admirable work ethic and retired in the fall of 2020. John truly enjoyed life through simple pleasures; a good cup of hot coffee, spending time with family, fishing, grilling out, baseball, working on his truck, and gardening with his brother Bob. 

John is survived by his daughter Alissa (Caleb) Peavler of Santa Rosa Beach, FL. Grandchildren: Greyson, Wesley, and Genevieve Peavler of Santa Rosa Beach, FL. Stepdaughter: Kourtney (Darryl) Ludwig of Wentzville, MO. His sisters: Julie (Roy) Clark of Willow Hill, Cindy Pennington of Olney, Bonnie Phillips of Olney, Sharon King of Newton, Janet (Jim) Dallmier of Olney, and Linda Fleming of Newton.  

John was preceded in death by his parents, George and Eva (Murry) Rich, son Zachary Rich, brother Bob Rich, and niece Heather Rich.
