Imogene B. Hollinshead, 92, of Salem, Illinois passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at Salem Township Hospital.

She was born November 3, 1928 in Foraker, OK, the daughter of Edgar T. and Ora Belle (McIntosh) Rogers.

Imogene will be remembered by family and friends for being very community spirited. She was a beauty operator for many years at their farm home in Farina. She worked for the Farina phone company in the early years, loved everything about Christmas and decorating for the holiday season. An outstanding seamstress, she made many wedding gowns, and also costumes for the plays and productions through the school system. Her children will always remember the many life lessons she taught them, how to work hard, to be responsible, to pick up corn and sell in order to buy new school clothes, and especially how to camp as a family, usually at Forbes or Carlyle Lake, making use of what you had, even a tarp for a tent. She spent countless hours playing board games, cards and puzzles. As a couple, she and her husband loved dancing to the Big Band sounds of that period in time.

She united in marriage with Raymond J. Hollinshead, March 26, 1948 in Corinth MS and he preceded her in death May 19, 2010.

Surviving are her children, David Hollinshead and wife Kathy of Teutopolis, IL, Alan Hollinshead and wife Becky of Salem, IL, Dana Underwood and husband Dan of Springfield, IL, Linda Hollinshead of MO and Dreama Robinson and husband Dennis of Lake Station, IN, along with 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and her sister Marie of Salem, IL.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Joe Hollinshead and a grandson Cody Hollinshead.

Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Friday at the Sutherland - Rankin Funeral Home in Salem with Denise Burke officiating. Entombment will follow at East Lawn Cemetery in the Hollinshead mausoleum. It's important to wear a mask and practice social distancing as suggested by the CDC and the State of Illinois Phase 4 Revitalization guidelines with only 50 visitors allowed in the funeral home at any given time.
