Lonnie was born on August 17, 1950 in Clay County, Illinois, the son of William Herbert and Betty Joan (Livingood) Byers. He enjoyed times his family went to church and He trusted in the Lord for good in difficulty. He enjoyed his kids and his family. He enjoyed his log cabin during snow covered Christmas times with all the trimmings including a fire in the fireplace. Summers were spent camping with his family. He loved autumn family events including chopping wood together, car shows, and military museums. Each year, a pastime was having his family along with him the entire summer as he would be called to work away from home in various cities where they joined him and enjoyed swimming, dining out, and exploring different sites together. He enjoyed his work and friends he would meet along the way; at the oil field when he was young, then DONCO Electric Co, and Henkels & McCoy from which he retired 9 years ago. After retiring, he continued to attend school events, was there after school, and any time he could spend with his children.
He is survived by his sons, Shane Byers (wife Angie) of Mason, Illinois Jeremy Byers (wife Crystal) of Farina, Illinois and Drew Byers (wife Amber) of Salem, Illinois; daughters, Misty Byers Pearson (husband Mark) of Kinmundy, Illinois, Jessica Byers of Farina, Illinois and Julie Roberts of Kinmundy, Illinois; brothers, John Byers (wife Sara) of Iola, Illinois, Tom Byers (wife Janet) of Iola, Illinois, Terry Byers (wife Sandy) of Salem, Illinois and Calvin Byers (wife Melissa) of Iola, Illinois; grandchildren, Dalton, Olivia, Josie, Trenton, Cody, Peter, Micah, Austin, Kyle, Jacob, Aaron, Eli, Noah, Wyatt, Avery, and Liam; great-grandchildren, Tristan, Ashton, and Harper.
