David Lawrence Yost (68) of Watson

David Lawrence Yost, 68, of Watson, IL passed from this life surrounded in love by his family at 2:51 p.m. on Monday, March 29, 2021, in Springfield, IL.

A memorial service will be held Friday, April 2, 2021 from 2-4 p.m. at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham. Masks and social distancing are requested in accordance with COVID guidelines.

David was born March 28, 1953 in Olney, IL to Arthur Yost and the late Mary Kathryn Berry. David graduated from East Richland High School. He worked for Yamaha Honda from 1974 to 1988, and then moved to Watson where he worked for Schwann’s Delivery for the majority of his working years. He retired from Schneider National. He was a fantastic handyman, often seen renovating parts of his home or tinkering on vehicles. He loved dogs, keeping up with his children and grandchildren, and was never found without a smile or a joke.

He is survived by his father; 4 children, Bridget (John) Davis of Pelham, AL, John (Nadya) Yost of Mattoon, Michael (Chelsea) Yost of Jackson, LA, and Matthew Yost of Watson, and 7 grandchildren. Also surviving are his siblings Sharon (Dan) Uhlir of Bloomington, Janice (Robert) Weidner of Clay City, Tom (Carol) Yost of Normal, and Elaine (David) Gill of Bloomington; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Don Yost, in 2007, and his mother in 2017.
