Carolyn R. Shull, 84, of Greenup, IL passed away at 4:30 AM Sunday, February 7, 2021 at the Lutheran Care Center in Altamont, IL.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, February 11, 2021 at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup, IL. Visitation will be from 1:00 to service time on Thursday at the funeral chapel. Burial will be in the Harmony Cemetery, rural Greenup. Please practice social distancing and face covering will be required. Due to the pandemic, Crystal and Linda would appreciate phone calls and cards in the coming days for those who are not comfortable attending services.

Carolyn was born on November 28, 1936 in Greenup, IL to John & Cecile (True) Kemper. She married Charles “Chuck” Shull on February 1, 1963, and he preceded her on February 26, 1986.

She is survived by her two daughters Crystal (Randy) Callahan and Linda (Ronnie Dean) Carlen; granddaughter Amy (Neil) Sandschafer; three greatgrandsons Ben, Jack, and Max Sandschafer; nephews Jim (Jean) Newbanks, Mike Shull, Steve (Sharon) Shull, and Stan Shull.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents and son-in-law Dean Darling.

Chuck and Carolyn owned and operated Shull’s Service Station until 1977. Carolyn worked at Ettelbrick Shoe Company before joining the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department as Secretary/Dispatch operator until her retirement in 1998. She also was superintendent of the Floral, Arts, and Ag Hall at the Cumberland County Fair. Carolyn served as Fair Board Director and President of the Fair until 2010. She was a devoted member of the Plum Grove Church, where she served as trustee, custodian, and pianist for years. Carolyn’s greatest joy was spending time with her family. From attending her great-grandson’s baseball games to cooking dinner every Sunday, the memories that were made will last us a lifetime.
