Wayne R. Clausius, 84, of Effingham, IL, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 11, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Centenary United Methodist Church in Effingham. Funeral services will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the church. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham.

Please use the South Entrance to Centenary United Methodist Church. Due to Covid-19 concerns, please wear a mask for all services and follow all social distancing guidelines. Limitations to gathering size will be observed. We kindly ask you to pay your respects in a timely manner.

Wayne was born on September 13, 1936 in Chicago, IL, the son of Charles and Lillian (Herdeck) Clausius. He married Annette Rose Piontek on June 20, 1964, in Chicago, IL.

Wayne was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church for over 50 years. Wayne graduated from Tri-State University in Angola, IN. He worked for over 35 years as a Civil Engineer for the Illinois Department of Transportation. Wayne was a devoted family-man, and was very proud of his family. He and Annette made frequent trips to visit their children and grandchildren. He took great pleasure in watching his grandchildren at sporting and school events. Wayne loved spending time in Naples, FL, making fresh squeezed orange juice with his family, seeing theatre productions and attending Spring Training baseball. Wayne was also an avid sports fan. He coached youth baseball for the Effingham Park District Khoury League and Little League Baseball programs for many years. He enjoyed watching the Chicago Bears, the Fighting Illini, and especially the Chicago Cubs.

Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Annette Clausius of Effingham; children, Robert (Michelle) Clausius of Eureka, MO, Jeff (Kathy) Clausius of Effingham, and Suzanne (Jason) Bowers of Avon, IN; and grandchildren, Madison, Rachel and Ryan Clausius; Will, Olivia and Sophia Clausius; and Collin and Carson Bowers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and half-brother, Charles Clausen of Chicago, IL.
