Martha E. Butler, 96, of Shelbyville, IL passed away at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday February 2, 2021 at the home of her daughter, Marilyn Easter, in Corinth, MS.
Martha was born on July 1, 1924, in Shelby County, the daughter of John R. and Jennie (Fought) Perry. Martha and M/Sgt Emory “Pete” Butler were united in holy matrimony on April 4, 1942 in Watertown, NY and were blessed with 68 years of marriage before his passing on February 28, 2011. Martha and Pete owned and operated Butler's Upholstery for over 40 years in Shelbyville and Martha, along with her daughter, Marilyn owned and operated M&M Crafts for 35 years in Shelbyville.
Martha is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Easter and her husband Cliff (Butch) of Corinth, MS; three grandchildren: Linda Gill of Shelbyville, Clifford Easter, Jr of Springfield and Elizabeth Vincent of Tuscola; numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and Martha’s special caregiver, Sondra Bullard.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John R. and Jennie Perry; husband, Emory (Pete) Butler; son, Daryl Butler; brothers: Fred Perry and wife Irene, Lester Perry and wife Edna, Orie Perry and wife Martha, Floyd Perry and wife Darlene and Johnny Perry; sisters: Pearl Hagan and husband Chester, Stella Woodall and husband David and Zelma Banning and husband Burl; great-great-grandson, Breidan Ross; nephew, Ron Hagan Sr and niece, Ruby Ethridrge.
Due to COVID-19, private family graveside services will be held in Glenwood Cemetery with Pastor Mark Sanders officiating. Memorials may be made in Martha’s name to Saving Orphaned Animals Shelby County or the donor’s favorite charity and mailed to Lockart-Green Funeral Home, %Martha Butler, 302 W. Main St., Shelbyville, IL 62565. Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville is assisting the family.
