Douglas Byers Waldo, Jr., 83, of rural St. Elmo died at 9:11 p.m. Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at his home.

A private family burial will be held at a later date. Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Doug was born on Friday, August 13, 1937 in Harrisburg, PA to Douglas Byers, Sr. and Francis Arvilla Ritenour Waldo. He married Rea Jo Hudson on June 29, 1973 in Kansas City, MO. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was retired as a vice president at Irwin Telescopic Seating, Altamont.

He is survived by his wife of over 47 years, Rea Jo, of St. Elmo; sons, Douglas Byers (Sherry) Waldo, III of Farina, Frederick Douglas Waldo of Kansas City, MO and Edward Anthony (Kristy) Caley of Kansas City, MO; daughters, Tiera Aleatha (Tina) Lemire of Leawood, KS and Kelly Kay Waldo of Kansas City, MO; brothers, Robert Kelly (Lynn) Waldo of Centerview, MO and William Scott (Barbara) Waldo of West Palm Beach, FL; 6 grandchildren; Byers Waldo, Caitlin Waldo, Chaz Kronsage, Elizabeth, Ethan, and Evan Caley and 2 great grandchildren.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents.
