Captain Jamie Paul Ledbetter (55) of Hillsboro, Tenn.

Captain Jamie Paul Ledbetter 55 years old of Hillsboro, Tennessee loving husband, father, grandfather, and uncle died on Saturday January 9, 2021 at the Southern Tennessee Regional Health System, Winchester, Tennessee after a lingering lung illness that forced him to be medically discharged from the United States Army after 26 years of faithful service to his country. However, recently he succumbed to the COVID-19 virus.
COVID-19/Coronovirus-Kull Funeral Home and the family will follow the Governor of Illinois public gatherings request of social distancing of people, and masks are required. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Effingham County near Moccasin, Illinois on Saturday January 16, 2021 at 2:00 PM with the Rev. John Sidney Hutchison officiating. A walk-through visitation for family and friends will be held at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery beginning at 1:00 pm until the Funeral Service Saturday. Full Military Burial Rites will be afforded to Captain Ledbetter following the funeral service.
Jamie was born on October 22, 1965 at the St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham Illinois into the family of Jim Ledbetter and Sharon (Newburn-Ledbetter) Grigsby. In 1983 while in his senior year in high school he enlisted in the Tennessee National Guard. During his tour of duty for 26 years he advanced his rank to Captain last serving in the Military Police. He numerous deployments included an Iraq Campaign Metal, Combat Action Badge, and Armed Forces Reserve Badge. His overseas deployment led to his full medical discharge in 2006.
Jamie married Charlene Smallwood on May 30, 1987 at the Altamont Christian Church. As being in the military his life was in Tennessee and enjoyed his family, motorcycles, and other adventures.

Konrad) Grisby of Clarksville, Tennessee; Daughter: Joanna (husband, Gary) Norwood of Murfreesboro, Tennessee and 3 children D.J., Kimberly and Taylor Nelson; Brothers: James “Woodie’ (wife, Miranda) Ledbetter of St. Elmo, Illinois and their children: Avery, Branden and Madison Ledbetter, John Carl (wife, Jackie) Matson of Clarksville, Tennessee and their children Jeffery and Ashley Matson, Charles Leroy (wife, Matah) Ledbetter, Matthew Bodean (wife, Manda) Ledbetter and their daughter Eden Ledbetter; Sisters: Deanna June (husband, Donnie) Tull of Beecher City, Illinois and their children: Wade, Kenny, Katie, Shelby, and Reina Tull, Londa Denise (husband, Jason) Mitchell of St. Elmo, Illinois and their children: Adrian, Dylan, Dennis, and Ashlyn Mitchell, Shelia Page of Virden, Illinois and children Shannon (husband Justin) Emery and their son Jonah Emery, Nathan Argo; Sister-in-law: Virginia Tyce of Hillsboro, Tennessee and her son Matthew Samuel.
Jamie was preceded in death by his Father: Jimmy “Jim” Leroy Ledbetter and Stepmother: Rebecca “Becky” Jane Skinner-Ledbetter; Brother: Joe Hillard Matson; Grandparents: Floyd Leonard Ledbetter, Opal Evelyn Willis-Ledbetter-Austin, Woody Dunlap Skinner, Thelma June Cochran-Skinner, Paul Harding Newburn and Tiney Elizabeth Tate-Newburn.
