Thomas R. Pruemer, 88 of Effingham, passed away Saturday, January 9, 2021 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Church in Effingham with burial in Neoga Memorial Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given to Sacred Heart School or EWTN. Online condolences may be expressed by clicking here.

Tom was born June 7, 1932 in Teutopolis, the son of Robert and Gertrude (Nuxoll) Pruemer. He retired after working 39 years with Effingham-Clay FS. Tom was a member of the Effingham Farm Bureau and a lifetime member of the Teutopolis Knights of Columbus. He was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, rabbit hunting, card playing and good country music.

Survivors include his brother, Dennis and sisters, Doris (Larry) Hakman and Judy Colburn; three step-daughters; seven step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Tom was preceded in death by his infant brother, Kenneth and brother, Donald; infant sister, Elizabeth and sisters, Jeanette Bergfeld and Connie Rieman; wives, Ramona (Carruthers) Pruemer and Deloris (Wright) Pruemer.

The family would like to thank Tom’s doctors and loving health care workers. Because of them, Tom was able to live in his home until his recent hospital stay.
