Clemence J. “Clem” Vogt, Jr., 85 of Effingham, passed away Monday, January 4, 2021 at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

A public funeral mass will be held Thursday, January 7 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham with burial in St. Anthony Cemetery. Please wear a mask and observe all social distancing guidelines. Memorial donations may be given to the donor’s choice. 

Clem was born January 29, 1935 in Effingham, the son of Clemence Sr. and Josephine (Feldhake) Vogt. He married Shirley Kaufman in 1960 and she preceded him in death in 1988. Clem then married Doris Haslett in 1991 and she preceded him in death in 2016. He served with the United States Army and was a truck driver for Effingham Equity for over 40 years. Clem was a member of St. Anthony Church and the Effingham Knights of Columbus.

Clem is survived by his son, Tom (Crystal) Vogt of Mason; daughters, Susan (Lynn) Marvin of Newton, Joyce (Phil) Mathews of Effingham, Christie (Chad) Sexton of Clinton, IN and Amy Vogt of Effingham; brother, Bernard Vogt of Effingham; 12 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 2 step-great-grandchildren.

Clem was preceded in death by his parents; wives; infant son, Ronald; grandson, Philip; siblings, Paul Vogt, Clarence Vogt, Sr. Mary Ann Vogt, Stella Westendorf, Ann Ruholl and Catherine Westendorf.
