Vera C. Kroeger, 74 of Teutopolis, passed away at 8:46 a.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon surrounded by her loving family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis with burial in St. Francis Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Catholic Charities or to the Teutopolis Firefighters.

Vera was born on October 22, 1946 in Montrose, the daughter of Adolph and Florence (Heuerman) Will. She married James F. “Jim” Kroeger on May 23, 1970 and he preceded her in death on December 17, 2015. Together, Jim and Vera had six daughters.

Vera not only raised her six daughters, she worked for General Electric and then devoted her time as a farmer’s wife. She then enjoyed many years working at Kountry Kitchen, where she was able to work with several family members and see community friends on a regular basis. After many years at Kountry Kitchen, Vera then volunteered her time at Catholic Charities. The most reassured accomplishment was donating blood and receiving the 17-gallon pin!

In the past, Vera spent many nights and weekends listening to Jim and the Country Cut-Ups play music at various venues. This created numerous lifelong friendships and countless memories made with family and friends. She had a love for nature as she loved to watch the birds, butterflies, and small animals outside her window or while sitting out on the deck, with friend and neighbor, Rosie. Vera enjoyed weekly lunches with special friends, Don and Sandy, with lots of laughs and memories made. Sunday drives with Jim and the girls, going fishing, and time watching grandkids grow were very special moments for Vera.

Vera is survived by her children, Carla (Jeff) Kenter, Becky (Doug) Green, Debbie (Tim) Koester, Amy (Ben) Beckman, Melinda (Josh) Bierman and Jamie (Todd) Geier; grandchildren, Jenna (Clint) Dasenbrock, Jody (Matt) Lohman, Justin and Jason Kenter, Chloe Green, Lane and Nick Beckman, Milan and Jordan Bierman; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Roger (Ruth), Alfred (Delores), Maurice, Adolph Jr. (Sharon) and Curt (Tracy) Will; sisters, Arlene (Dan) Flood, Rita (Ralph) Wendt, Alice (John) Hendrix and Anette (Duane) Niemerg; sister-in-law, Alice Kroeger and Virginia (Salty) Soltwedl; brothers-in-law, Larry and Charles (Dolores) Kroeger; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Mardell Buenker; brothers-in-law, Tom Kroeger and Donald Buenker; nephews, Alan Buenker and Todd Kroeger and niece, Linda Croft.
