Joseph M. Tali, 92, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham, IL.

According to Joseph’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Effingham. Online condolences may be shared by clicking here.

Joseph was born on September 23, 1928, in Brooklyn, NY, the son of Joseph and Anna (Casaretti) Italiano. Joe joined the U.S. Army after World War II, serving as a cryptographer, deciphering coded messages, in the Army Signal Corps, Company A, 24th Signal Service Battalion. He worked at the Pentagon. Joe graduated from Brooklyn College in 1952, and later a became a CPA. Joe loved traveling, and after living in California, he settled in Effingham, where he resided for the rest of his long life. He was a talented artist. All remember his happy and friendly disposition and all were touched by his kind and generous spirit.

Joseph is survived by his sister-in-law, Rosalyn Italiano of Wantagh, NY, and his nieces and nephews, Linda, Roseanne, Robert, Ronald and Joseph; and 8 grand nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Alfred; and sister, Sally and her husband George.
