Laura E. Baker, 92, of Effingham, passed away Friday, December 4, 2020 at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham.

Private family services will be held with burial in Arborcrest Memorial Park in Effingham. Memorial donations may be given to Centenary United Methodist Church. Arrangements are in the care of Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham.

Laura was born January 23, 1928 in Effingham, the daughter of the late Emanuel and Lorena (Homann) Knierim. She married Corby E. Baker on June 28, 1947 and he preceded her in death in 2004. Laura worked at Fedders Corp. in Effingham for many years and was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Effingham where she was active in the quilter’s group. She was also a member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary. Laura spent time volunteering with the American Red Cross and every year with the FISH Christmas Store. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, playing bingo and line dancing.

Laura is survived by her daughter, Jayne (John) Miller of Effingham; sons, Ronald (Jenny) Baker of Butler and Wayne of Effingham; five grandchildren, one step-grandchild and ten great-grandchildren.
