Janice K. Pike, 63 of Effingham, passed away Thursday, December 3, 2020 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Effingham with burial in Arborcrest Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. to time of service, Tuesday at the church. Jan was born November 19, 1957 in Effingham, the daughter of Arlin and Bernice (Klitzing) Schroeder. When Jan was 16, she began working at Banner Mutual Insurance and later in the deli department at Martin IGA and as a teller for First National Bank in Effingham. In April of 1996, she began working at Walmart in Effingham until her retirement in July of 2019. Jan was baptized at Blue Point Lutheran Church in Altamont on December 8, 1957 and was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Effingham. In 2004, Jan became active in the Effingham County Relay for Life until her passing. She married Mark Pike on April 28, 1979 and had two children, Erik and Jill.

Jan is survived by her son, Erik (Jenny), daughter, Jill (Haven, Jr.) Boone and brother, Jim (Kathy) Schroeder all of Effingham; grandchildren, Corbyn Boone, Oliver Boone, Liam Boone, Zoey Boone, Isiah Nix and Brennon Nix. She is also survived by many friends who dearly loved her.

Jan was preceded in death by her parents and niece, LeAnn Schroeder Hardiek.
