James Edward Bloomer, 68, of Newton, Illinois passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at his daughter's home in Greenup.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 5 at the New Life Christian Center, Newton with Bro. Chris Parr officiating. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Monday, June 4 at the church. Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery, rural Willow Hill. Memorials may be made to the St. Judes Hospital for Children. Online condolences may be offered at www.crainfuneral.com.
James was born July 24, 1943 in Jasper County, the son of Hubert and Hazel (Curtis) Bloomer. James married Timberly Ann Brown August 26, 1965. She preceded him in death June 11, 2009. Jim served his country in the United States Army. He worked for Alcoa Aluminum for many years until his health no longer permitted. His memberships included the New Life Christian Center, Newton and the Arbor Day Foundation. Jim loved the Lord, his family and nature.
He will be loved and remembered by four daughters, Dona Charleen Wilson-Tibi of Newton, Becky Ives of Decatur, Cindy (husband Sam) Mitchell of Greenup and Amanda Richardson of Greenup; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; brothers, John Bloomer of Champaign and Irvin (wife Barb) Bloomer of Cape Fair, Mo. and sisters, Leda Short of Willow Hill and Betty Walston of Decatur.
He was preceded in death by his wife Timberly and sisters, Dena Staley and Ethelene Bloomer.
