Kathryn "Katy" Van Voorhis (99) of Alton

Kathryn “Katy” Van Voorhis, 99, died at 3:28 a.m. Monday, November 16, 2020 at Alton Memorial Hospital.

Born April 10, 1921 in Oakland, IL, she was the daughter of Leonard O. and Cecil (Ford) Honn. She retired in 1986 as a custodian for the Alton School District and was a member of the Parkside Presbyterian Church in Alton. She married Dean F. Van Voorhis on September 7, 1937 in Farmersburg, IN. He preceded her in death on June 5, 1962.

Surviving are four daughters, Deana Kay Wolff (Ron) of Godfrey, Rebecca Heiens (Bill) of Effingham, IL, Laura Lynn Stinson (Jeff) of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Nancy Warner (Mark) of Godfrey, two sons, Jerry Van Voorhis (Kay) of St. Ann, IL, and George Van Voorhis (Mary Ellen) of Godfrey. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren; Michael (Sandra) Van Voorhis (Andrea and Jordan), Laura (Ed) Lambert (Taylor and Hannah), Carla (Ron) Skrabacz (Morgan and Jacob), Paul (Heather) Van Voorhis (Colton and Rees Ann), Matthew (Julie) Van Voorhis, Aimee Blanco (Samantha, Sabrina, Sophie and Savannah), Sarah (Mike) Poe (Ryan, Zachary and Aaron), Todd (Carol) Van Voorhis (Abbigail, Samuel and Will), Alan (Jennie) Heiens (Oceana (Tyler) and Dakota), Riki (Adam) Keim (Kathryn and Hadley), Kati Kauffman (Lily and Cooper), Luke (Alicia ) Warner (Dean, Henry and Adler), Allison (John) Farmer (Lucy and Levi). Three step grandchildren, Jeffery Stinson, Jessica (Adam) Martin (Addison, Gabriella, and Jackson), Josh Stinson. Great-great grandson, Oliver Lemuel Moffett, born September 28, 2020, and a sister, Jorja Henry of Oakland, IL.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Ford, Othel, Waldo, Thomas and Leonard Honn and three sisters, Ida Babb, Ruth Morgan, and Patricia Edwards.

Private services will be held Saturday, November 21, 2020 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Pastor George Van Voorhis will officiate. Burial will be in Van Voorhis Cemetery in Hindsboro, IL.
