Helen was born on December 22, 1932 in Decatur, IL, the daughter of George E. and Frances A. (Foster) Stern. She graduated from Decatur High School and went on to work as an Administrative Assistant at Tallman Cadillac and later for Illinois Power both in Decatur, IL. She married Dale M. Stremming on July 15, 1967. Helen was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Strasburg where she sang in the choir and was involved in the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. She loved participating in the Windsor Community Choir, Annual Christmas Cantata hosted by the Lutheran Churches of Stewardson and Strasburg, and Grace Lutheran Ladies Aid. Helen was an artist. She found beauty in all places. Helen loved to arrange flowers and did not hesitate to fix the store bought kind to her expectations. She could decorate for any social gathering and she had a very special talent for improving greeting cards when not enough was said. Her penmanship was artistic and classy every time. Helen loved to sing. She sang with purpose and sincerity that was unlike any other. Church service will not be the same absent her voice. Helen was kind to all she met. Her smile led the way and her love for others was intentional. She wanted to hear all about you, but was quick to tell her story to a listening ear. Helen loved her grandchildren and always gave them the loudest toys. Her refrigerator contained photos from years past and special memories that she cherished. Helen was a pet lover and gave treats to all the dogs in the neighborhood. Helen was a witness to God’s grace and mercy. She shared the gospel and walked in her faith every day.
