Shirley J. Worthy, age 85, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 5:56 PM – Monday, October 26, 2020 at Newton Care Center in Newton, Illinois.
Private family services will be held, with burial in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton, Illinois. In loving memory of Shirley, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church in Newton, Illinois. Funeral arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home Newton, Illinois.
Shirley was born on August 15, 1935, in Lawrenceville, Illinois the daughter of Carrie McClaskey. She married Harold Wilson Worthey on March 21, 1953, in Lawrenceville, Illinois.
Shirley retired from E. R. Moore in Newton, Illinois, after many years of service. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Newton, Illinois. Shirley enjoyed doing crafts, crocheting and embordering. She loved to spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Shirley is survived by- Husband of 67 years – Harold Worthey of Newton, Illinois. Sons - Steve (Cindy) Worthey of Mattoon, Illinois and Ed Worthey (Cindy Utley) of Newton, Illinois. Grandchildren - Dana (Gary) Adams of Iola, Illinois; Amy (Travis) Tarr of Newton, Illinois; Sarah (Brad) Horner of Dundas, Illinois. Great Grandchildren - Jayde, Reese, Maya, Marshall, Meyer, Marlee, Cole, Maddox and Maverik.
Shirley was preceded in death by her Mother.
