Lisa Moore Bradshaw (59) of Marion Formerly of Effingham

Lisa Moore Bradshaw died Monday, October 19, with family to see her off.  Cherishing her memory are her husband, Robert; son, R. Zach; parents-in-law Norma and Robert Bradshaw, brother and sister-in-law Beverly and Roger Moore and Ann and Richard Bradshaw, several nieces and nephews, and hundreds of friends and students who will never forget her caring personality. 

Services recalling the specialness of Lisa’s life will be held at her graveside at 1 pm, Wednesday, October 28, in Grand Prairie Cemetery, 4964 Brush Ridge Drive North, Marion, Ohio, 43302, with Father Kyle Tennant officiating. Lisa Moore Bradshaw, born four days after Christmas in 1961, was a gift to the late Opal (Wicker) and Alton Moore and her then-14-year-old brother, Roger.  The Moore’s moved from Marion, Ohio, to Brazil, Indiana, when Lisa was nine.  The personality that defined her life took shape in rural Brazil.  Always putting the needs of others before her own, Lisa loved to take charge wherever she was.  A gifted planner and conversationalist, she made sure everyone felt special and listened to.  She thrived on social gatherings, loved events large and small, and decorated for every occasion. 
 

Well before she graduated with Van Buren High School’s Class of 1980, she began dating her future husband, Robert Kent “Rob” Bradshaw, and they married in 1982 in the Carbon Methodist Church, outside Brazil.  A top student, cheerleader and active in many school activities, Lisa went on to earn a B.S. degree in education from Indiana State University. 
 

With a huge heart for children, Lisa was a pre-kindergarten teacher at the King’s Kids Preschool once the Bradshaw’s left Terre Haute and settled in Effingham, Illinois.  She was especially passionate about children’s literature and loved “bringing those stories to life” while reading to “her kids.” 

 In Effingham, the couple welcomed Robert Zachary Harrison Bradshaw, the one child Lisa always said she wanted and looked forward to.  For years before Zach’s arrival, she shared the vision she had for her son and all she planned to do in raising him.  As he grew, she was active in every part of his life, reveling in his high school golfing accomplishments and his success at Monmouth College.  As a mom, she was a gift. 

Second only to her love of children was her love of animals.  A “dog fanatic,” Lisa continually increased the size of the Bradshaw family with rescue pups from the Effingham Animal Rescue Sanctuary (AKA EARS).  With that well-honed skill of taking charge and involving everyone around her, Lisa was a “professional volunteer,” serving on the Effingham Public Library and YMCA boards and becoming an active member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.  Leveraging her own high school experiences, she also spent years as Effingham High School’s volunteer cheerleading coach. 
 

A woman of deep faith, Lisa was a member of the St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, in Effingham, having grown up in the Marion First Free Will Baptist Church and then the Carbon Baptist Church, where she sang in the youth choir.

The Bradshaw and Moore families extend a heartfelt thank you to Father Paul Ruwe of St. Charles Borromeo Parish, in Kettering, Ohio, for giving Lisa her last rites.
