John Larry Markley, age 73, of Farina, Illinois passed away at 7:30 a.m. Friday, October 9, 2020 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 17, 2020 at Pagel Funeral Homes in St. Peter, Illinois. Ean Fox will be officiating. There will be a one-hour viewing prior to the service. Burial will be at Farina Cemetery in Farina, Illinois. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m Friday. Memorials may go to the donor’s choice. Online condolences may be expressed by clicking here.

John was born on July 13, 1947 in Farina, Illinois, the son of Merle and Olive (Starkey) Markley. He was a member of the Farina American Legion Post #411. John served in the United States Army from 1966-1968 and served during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed spending time with friends at the Loading Dock, going to truck shows, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his son, Jason Markley (wife Chandra) of Farina, Illinois; brother, Kenneth Markley of Springdale, Arkansas; and three grandchildren, Trevor Markley, Rylee Markley, and Brody Markley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Merle and Olive Markley; brother, Donald Markley; sister, Sue Lemands.
