Reta L. Zumbahlen (85) of Effingham

Reta L. Zumbahlen, 85, of Effingham, IL, suddenly passed peacefully to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 8, 2020 at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 15, 2020 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Burial will be in Watson Cemetery in Watson. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Thursday prior to the service at the funeral home.

Due to Covid-19 concerns, please wear a mask for all services and follow all social distancing guidelines.

Reta was born on September 10, 1935, in Effingham County, IL, the daughter of Glen and Clementine (Bushue) Boone.

Reta was married to Art Zumbahlen and had a child, Debra. They later divorced. For many years, she and her longtime partner, Jim Levitt, enjoyed motorcycle riding and taking trips to the riverboats.

She retired from Fedders after 42 years. She enjoyed working in the yard and tending to her roses and other flowers. She always loved going to dances and listening to music. She also enjoyed resale shopping, collecting dolls, volunteering at Enduring Freedom Ministries Food Pantry and spending time with family and friends. She is a member of Sacred Heart Church.

Reta is survived by her daughter, Debra (Ron) Fuesting; grandchildren, Ryan (Brandy) Fuesting and Dustin (Angela Wheeler) Fuesting; great-granddaughter, Ella Fuesting; siblings, Urban (Louise) Boone, Lucille (Jim) Koester, Carolyn Maluchnik, Linda (Dave) Wheeler, Avanelle (Don) Harmann, and Ruth Ann (John) Lloyd; sister-in-law, Gwen Boone; many nieces and nephews; and special friend, Kenny Thoele.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Dwayne Boone; brother-in-law, John Maluchnik; former husband, Art Zumbahlen; companion, Jim Levitt; and her beloved cat, Sammy.
