Roy E. Cochran (79) of Altamont

Roy E. Cochran, 79, of Altamont died at 6:30pm Thursday, October 8, 2020 at his home.
Private family services will be held on Sunday, October 18th, 2020 for Roy and Sue Cochran at Union Cemetery. Sue Cochran died on September 26. Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Wright House Property, NFP or HSHS St. Anthony’s Hospice.
Roy was born on Monday, July 28, 1941 to Earl and Gertrude (Barnes) Cochran in Cowden, IL. He married Sandra Sue Smith on June 3, 1961 and she preceded him in death on September 26, 2020. Roy retired from Contel/GTE phone company in 1994 and he later went to work at R & H Plumbing and Heating in Altamont. He was a charter member of The Mill Road Thresherman Association of Altamont. He spent many years restoring antique engines and antique tractors.
He is survived by; his sons, Brett (Teresa) Cochran of Denver, CO and Bart (Susie) Cochran of Altamont; daughter, Bonnie (Tom) Lester of Altamont; twin sister, Marcia Dial of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; brother, Ronnie Cochran of Cowden, IL; 11 grandchildren, Richard (Michelle) Cochran, Bryan Cochran, Bradley Cochran, Zachary (Mary) Cochran, Jordan Connors, Katrina (Josh Stewart) Connors, Alyssa (fiancé, Cody Sarver) Connors, Kelcie (fiancé, T.J. Roedl) Quade, Curtis Logue, Brendan Lester and Kyle Lester and 14 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and brother-in-law, Raleigh Dial of Louisiana.
