Virginia Lee “Ginger” Schackmann age 84 of Toledo, Illinois passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at her home.

Funeral services celebrating Virginia’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 10, 2020 at the Crain Funeral Home, Newton with Rev. Joy Starwalt officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. Saturday until the time of service in the funeral home. Burial will be in the West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Newton, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the family. Due to COVID-19 concerns, the family asks that you wear a mask and observe social distancing guidelines.

Virginia was born on January 8, 1936, in Chicago, Illinois the daughter of Ralph and Lucille (DeClements) Hamilton. On July 24, 1954, Virginia married James E. Schackmann in Newton, Illinois. He survives. Virginia spent life as a homemaker, taking pride in caring for her family and her home. She was a member of the Broadway Christian Church, Mattoon, Illinois. In her free time, Virginia enjoyed crossword, Sudoku and jigsaw puzzles. She also liked crochet, reading, cooking and baking, and enjoyed listening to many styles of music.

Virginia will be loved and remembered by her husband James Schackmann of Toledo; sons David Schackmann and Kevin Schackmann, wife Tammy of Ramsey, IL ; daughters Cynthia Stivers, husband Richard of Mattoon and Susan Reichling, husband Curt of Springfield; seven grandchildren Dillon, Amanda, Deveraux, Constance, Cade, Isabel and Ethan; and brother Richard Hamilton, wife Gail of Springfield.

Her parents, brother Ralph Hamilton and sister Avis Kuhring preceded her in death.
