Richard Keith Bollhorst, age 79, of Farina, Illinois passed away at 10:07 a.m. Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at Evergreen Nursing Home in Effingham, Illinois.

There will be a private family funeral. Jerry Gesell Sr. will be officiating. Visitation will be open to the public from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday, September 25, 2020 at Friedens United Church of Christ in Farina, Illinois. Burial will be at Farina Cemetery in Farina, Illinois. Memorials may go to Pagel Funeral Homes or the donor’s choice. Richard was born on September 2, 1941 in Farina Illinois, the son of Henry and Lula (Meyers) Bollhorst. He married Sandra Lee Thompson on May 18, 1963 at Friedens United Church of Christ in Farina, Illinois. Richard loved writing, as he was a published writer. He also enjoyed hunting, inventing things, camping, traveling, and spending time with his family and friends. Richard and his wife enjoyed conducting genealogy research and traveled to cemeteries all over to record different family histories. He was a member of the Friedens United Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife Sandra Bollhorst of Farina, Illinois; daughters, Jeannie Calhoun (husband Steve) of St. Elmo, Illinois, Stacey Warner (husband Lee) of St. Elmo, Illinois, and Nikki Bollhorst (boyfriend Rob Scrimpsher) of Altamont, Illinois; 18 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and son-in-law, Rusty Wright of Beecher City, Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Lula Bollhorst; daughter, Connie Lynne Wright; sisters, Irma Jean Hanbaum and Dorothy Gesell; grandson, Timothy Warner.
