Dorothy Mitchell, 85, of Clay City, passed away at 5:58 pm on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at her home.

She was born on August 16, 1935 in Clay City, the daughter of the late Albert “Duck” and Mildred (Holmes) Franklin. Dorothy married James “Cork” Mitchell on October 16, 1950 and he preceded her in death. Dorothy enjoyed time with her family, she liked antiques, going to flea markets and yard sales and always loved attending a good auction.

She is survived by two grandchildren; James Derek (Charity) Mitchell of Clay City, Kyle Richard (Barbara) Mitchell of Ohio, a brother; Richard Earl Franklin of Odessa, Texas, four great grandchildren; Riley Melbar, Graham Mitchell, Oliver Mitchell and Theodore Mitchell and by several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by a son, James “Dickie” Mitchell, a granddaughter, Ashley Melbar and by two sisters, Wilma Laird and Mabel Sharp.
