Dora May Martin (92) of Wheeler

Dora May Martin, age 92, of Wheeler, Illinois, passed away at 5:30 AM - Friday, August 7, 2020, at her home.

Visitation will be held 5:30-7:00 PM – Tuesday, August 11, 2020, at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM – Wednesday, August 12, 2020, at the Trexler Cemetery in rural Newton, Illinois. Dora was born on December 21, 1927, in Latona, Illinois, the daughter of Luther and Leah (Shamhart) Baker. She married David Paul Martin on February 8, 1947, in rural Wheeler, Illinois, and he preceded her in death on July 3, 2005. Dora worked at Newton Rest Haven and Jaffco for several years. She was a member of the Newton Christian Church. Dora enjoyed raising chickens, flowers and vegetables.

Dora is survived by: Daughters – Betty (Tom) Yaw of Newton, Illinois and Judy Petard of Wheeler, Illinois; Brother – Lloyd (Annalee) Baker of Portland, Tennessee; Sister – Esther Johnson – Medford, Oregon; Grandchildren – David (Lisa) Yaw, Jeannie (Jason) Burrell, Chad Petard (Dorma Schaffer) and Tammy (Tim) Golliher; Great Grandchildren – Lucas Petard, Josh Burrell, Taylor Johnson, Dylan Johnson, Ashley Brown and Josh Brown; 2 Great Great Grandchildren – Lily Johnson and Amelia Brown

Dora was preceded in death parents, husband, daughter Sue Martin, siblings, O’Norma Harris, Charles Baker, Inez Finn, Cleo “Pud” Baker and Roy Baker.
