Richard Ray Wheeler, 77, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 8:12 a.m. Wednesday, July 29, 2020 in HSHS Good Shepherd Hospital, Shelbyville, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 1, 2020 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Rev. Tim Yankee officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home. A private burial will be in held in Mt. Zion Cemetery, near Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Smile Train.

Richard was born on April 15, 1943 in Mattoon, IL, the son of Theodore Eugene and Helen (Paige) Wheeler. He graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1961. Richard was Heavy Equipment Operator for G.W. Prosser in Shelbyville until his retirement. He was affiliated with the First Baptist Church of Shelbyville and a member of the National Rifle Association. He married Nancy Patricia Reed on August 20, 1961.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy; daughters, Cindy Rhodes (Mike) of Shelbyville, IL, Cristi Foster (Jeff) of Shelbyville, IL and Cheri Schutt (Rod) of St. George, UT; brother, Tom Wheeler (Tammy) of Acworth, GA; nine grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Daniel Wheeler (Sharon).
