Marcia Sue Smith, 65, of Strasburg, IL passed away at 4:19 p.m. Tuesday, July 28, 2020 in her residence with her loved ones by her side.
Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, July 31, 2020 at Old Mode Cemetery, near Mode, IL, with Pastor David McConnell officiating. Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in memory of Danyelle Cushman. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Strasburg, IL.
Marcia was born on November 26, 1954, in Shelbyville, IL, the daughter of Paul Parr and Beverly Marcella (Jackson) Reifsteck. Marcia loved rummaging/junking with Butch, laughing, knitting, creating chaos with her siblings, spending time with her children, but most of all spending time with her grandchildren. She married Joseph Steven “Butch” Smith on June 9, 1972 and he survives.
Marcia is also survived by her son, Joseph Paul “J.P” Smith (Shannon) of Stewardson, IL; daughter, Shannon Marie Long (Devin) of Lovington, IL; step-daughters, Elise Howland of Beecher City, IL and Kera Howland of Effingham, IL; brother, David Reifsteck (Trisha) of Stewardson, IL; sisters, Rosemary Smith of Sullivan, IL, Brenda Matheny of Mattoon, IL, and Sara Helton (Robert) of Weldon, IL; grandchildren, D.J. Carroll, Trevor Long, RaeAnn Smith, Abby Smith, Ryder Howland, Asa Rentfrow and Elisha Allsop; special family members, Ramona and Cristie Moon and Lonnie Nichols; and special friends, Karen Daley, Debbie Dilley and Anita and Rex Morgason.
She was preceded in death by her parents; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Joseph A. and Florence F. (Nichols) Smith; and brothers-in-law, Lawrence Smith and Michael Matheny.
