Joyce Elaine (Hagaman) Wall, 84, of Cowden, IL passed away at 9:15 p.m. on Saturday April 11, 2020 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL after a courageous battle with breast cancer.

Joyce was born on June 1, 1935, in Canton, to Harry L. and Lorraine (Conrad) Hagaman. Joyce and Alfred “Junior” Wall Jr. were united in holy matrimony on March 23, 1956 in Shelbyville and celebrated 38 years of marriage before his passing on December 3, 1994. Joyce worked at Community Banks of Shelby County for many years before retiring in 2007. She was the long-time treasurer for the Cowden Pioneer Days. Joyce enjoyed traveling, especially when she hosted bus trips to Branson for the bank, bowling, playing bunco and cards, but most of all she treasured time with her family.

She is survived by her daughters: Cheryl Wall of Springfield, Debbie (Monte) Summers of Beecher City and Brenda (Kenny) Bennett of Cowden; granddaughters: Heather (Dustin) Lightfoot of Mason, Ashlee (Justin) Morrison of Beecher City and Elizabeth Wall of Springfield; great-grandson, Cooper Morrison of Beecher City; siblings: Phyllis Wheeler of Hudson, Peggy Utsinger of Canton, Sandra (Buck) Bowen of Baring, MO, Harry “Butch” (Carol) Steck of Canton and Larry (Alice) Steck of Canton; sisters-in-law: Helen Steck of Canton and JoAnn Wall of Cowden; brother and sister-in-law Gene and Carolyn Wall of Cowden and many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Dave Steck; siblings: Hazel Steck, Gary Steck, Shirley Brown and Donna Lyngstad; father and mother-in-law: Alfred and Pauline Wall; sister-in-law, Mary Ellen (Wall) Hayes; brothers-in-law: Lyle “Babe” Brown, Bernard Wheeler, Charlie Wall and Warren Utsinger Sr.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2020 with Pastor Steve Neville officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at the Cowden Free Methodist Church.
