Robert J. Powell, Sr., 82, of Altamont, died at 8:01 a.m. Monday, July 20, 2020 at his home.
As per his wishes there will be no services at this time. Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont is assisting the family with arrangements.
Bob was born on Tuesday, December 14, 1937 in Logan County, Russellville, Kentucky to Cecil Matthew and Stella Christine (Wellborn) Powell. He married Nancy A. Williams on January 10, 1960. He was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Altamont. He was the cofounder of Crossroads Truck Equipment, Effingham. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy.
He is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Nancy Powell of Altamont; son, Robert J. Powell, Jr. and his wife Kathy of Effingham; daughter, Christine Powell of San Diego, California; 2 grandchildren, Joseph Powell and Kelsey Powell.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Marlene Ann Powell.
