Halowene “HALLIE” Hoesli, formerly from Effingham, Illinois passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 in Wyandotte, Oklahoma, where she lived with her daughter and son-in-law for the past 4 years. Hallie was 94.

She was born on October 31, 1925 to Melvin and Reesie (Field) Carpenter in Karnak, Illinois, one of 6 siblings. She grew up and attended school in Effingham, Illinois. On April 28, 1942, she married the love of her life, Fred R. Hoesli in Charleston, Missouri. Making their home in Effingham Illinois, they were married for 56 years until his passing in 1998. Hallie loved the Lord and was a prayer warrior. She attended the First Church of God in Effingham. Previously, she was a member of the Effingham Free Methodist Church where she enjoyed serving others in many ways, such as Youth director, Christmas program director and Bible School. Hallie was kind, caring and selfless. Hallie was a hard working woman. She worked several jobs during her lifetime to help support her family. At the age of 63, she went to work at Walmart in Effingham when the store opened and worked there for 17 years until retiring at the age of 80 in 2005.

Hallie was preceded in death by her husband Fred; her parents; sons, Frederick and Michael; 5 siblings and 3 grandsons.

Left to cherish Hallie’s memory: daughter, Sandra Cummins and husband Dan of Wyandotte, Oklahoma; son, David Hoesli and wife Kathy of Effingham, Illinois; 4 grandchildren; 14 greatgrandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces.

Services will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Johnson Funeral Home, 1110 N. Fourth Street, Effingham, Illinois 62401. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Effingham. Johnson Funeral Home is assisting the family locally. Online condolences may be shared by clicking here
