Roger Bowers (87) of Effingham

Carl Roger Bowers, age 87 of Effingham, IL completed his earthly circle of life and went to his eternal life with our Father at 7:30 PM - Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at Evergreen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Effingham, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM – Saturday, March 2, 2013 at the Bishop Funeral Home in Greenup, IL with Don Wallace officiating. Burial will be in the Aten Cemetery in Hidalgo, IL. Roger was born on January 20, 1926 near Hidalgo, IL the son of Basil and Goldie (Sowers) Bowers. He married Irene Ellen White on September 4, 1949 in Hidalgo, IL and she survives. Roger served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. After the war he went work for the Illinois Central Railroad for 15 years and retired in 1986 from the United States Postal Service in Auburn, IL. Roger enjoyed making wind chimes and was always willing to lead a hand to someone in need.
Roger is survived by: Wife of 63 Years – Ellen Bowers of Effingham, IL; Son – Roger D. (Cheryle) Bowers, Sr. of Sedalia, MO; Daughter – Kathy L. (George) Spallinger of Findlay, IL; Grandchildren – Roger D. Bowers, Jr., Michael (Heidi) Simons, Pascha (Brian) Shire, Lori (Troy) Burnett, Pam Bowers, Aaron Spallinger, Adam Lemarr, George (Kendra) Spallinger, Jr., Sara Spallinger and Danny (Deanna) Spallinger; Great-Grandchildren – Ashley, Tyler, Colton, Nicole, Taylor, Christopher, Matthew, Kayla, Elizabeth, George III, Cheyenne, Gracie, A.J., Braden, Gavin, Teyha, KyLyn and Paige.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Oral Bowers.
