John P. Sheehan, 84, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at his home in Teutopolis.

Private family graveside services will be held Friday, March 27 at St. Francis Cemetery in Teutopolis with military rites. Due to recent events, a public mass will be held at a later date. John was born April 6, 1935 in Trowbridge, the son of Clem and Mary (Hunk) Sheehan. He married Lucille Borries and she preceded him in death in 1997. On August 21, 1998, he married Carol S. (Hemrich) Jurgens. John was a veteran of the United States Air Force and was employed at Dust & Sons in Effingham for 45 years. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis, the Teutopolis Knights of Columbus and the Teutopolis American Legion Post 924. 

John is survived by his wife, Carol of Teutopolis; daughters, Kelly (Rick) Meyer and Jodi (Jim) Anders, both of Teutopolis; son, John "Jay" (Amber Rose) of Effingham; step-son, Thad (Tommi) Jurgens of Golconda and step-daughter, Amy Westfield of Savoy; brothers, Paul of Mattoon, Sam (Mardell) of Shumway and Jim (Patti) of Danville; sisters-in-laws, Louise Sheehan of Teutopolis and Pat Sheehan of Mattoon; mother-in-law, Lydia Hemrich of Effingham; 9 grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 3 step-great-grandchildren.

John was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Lucille; infant son, Todd Michael; brothers, Anthony and William; step-grandsons, Dillon Krone and T.J. Jurgens.
