Kathleen A. Barr, 67, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in O’Fallon, IL surrounded by her loving family.
A visitation celebrating the life of Kathy will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 21 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Memorials may be made to the family or donor’s choice. Online condolences may be shared by clicking here.
Kathleen was born on December 10, 1952 in Urbana, IL, the daughter of Dr. John and Helen (Holkenbrink) Dust. She married William S. Barr on June 3, 1972, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham. She recently retired from St. Anthony Hospital in Effingham, IL where she worked as an Emergency Room registrar. She had a passion for gardening earning the title of Master Gardener from the University of Illinois. Kathy was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her greatest pride and joy were her grandchildren.
Kathy is survived by her husband, William S. Barr; son, Scott (Loring) Barr; daughter, Erica Courtright; grandchildren, Rhemingtin Barr, Brianna Barr, Brennan Barr, Corinne Courtright, Damian Courtright, Kalvin Courtright; siblings, Connie (Preston) Barr, Betsy (Mark) Schottman, Pat (Maria) Dust, Bob (Kimi) Dust, Teresa (Fred) Aydt, Maurice (Jane) Dust, Joyce (Chris) Aydt, Mark (Lynn) Dust, Alan (Merry) Dust, Valerie (Tony) Kemme, and Brian Dust; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
