James E. Mitchell, 46, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL.
Memorial services will be held at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, January 30, 2020 at The Journey Church in Effingham. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Thursday prior to the service at the church. Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham is assisting the family.

James was born on December 7, 1973, in Mattoon, IL, the son of William Sr. and Elaine (Rentfrow) Mitchell.
James had a big heart and loved his family, nieces, and nephews. He enjoyed over the road truck driving and traveling. James also liked the outdoors, fishing, and camping. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Dallas Cowboys fan.
James is survived by his siblings, William (Sherri) Mitchell Jr. of Charleston, Lisa Deain of Effingham, and Lori Wren of Charleston; father, William Mitchell Sr. of Mattoon; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother; and brother, Richard A. Mitchell.
