William Wayne “Bill” Line, age 83, of Ingraham, Illinois, passed away at 10:34 AM Wednesday, January 1, 2020, at the Villas of Hollybrook in Newton, Illinois.

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM Tuesday, January 7 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Wendelin, Illinois. Burial will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Wendelin, Illinois, with full military rights by the Jasper Post #20 American Legion. Visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 PM Monday at the church and half an hour prior to mass on Tuesday. The obituary can be viewed and condolences left by clicking here.

William Wayne, better known as “Bill,” was born on April 16, 1936, in Peoria, Illinois, the son of Lowell and Matilda (Deimel) Line. He married Mary Piper on July 26, 1969, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Wendelin, Illinois, and she preceded him in death on April 24, 2006. Bill graduated from Newton Community High School in 1955. He served in the United States Army from 1959-1961. Bill was a carpenter with the Carpenters Union Local #634 for 31 years, and for many years was a business agent for the union. Bill was a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Wendelin, Illinois, the Moose Lodge, and the Jasper Post #20 American Legion. He loved playing cards, reading, and fishing. Bill was an avid Illini, Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. Bill took great pride in watching his children and grandchildren play in sporting events.

Bill is survived by: Daughter – Krista (Tom) Neihls of Effingham, Illinois Son – Doug (Jamee) Line of Newton, Illinois Grandchildren – Taylor Line, Kelsey Neihls, Brayden Line, Kaela Neihls, Karissa Neihls, and Haylee Line. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother and sister-in-law Don and Alice Line, and a niece Cathy Esker.
