Hazel G. Wyckoff, 95, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2019 at Lavender Ridge in Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 4, 2020 at Shumway United Methodist Church in Shumway with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service Saturday, January 4, 2020 at the church. Arrangements are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham.

Hazel was born on May 28, 1924, in Loudon Township, IL, the daughter of Jack and Jesse (Moore) Rogers. She married Donald C. Sproat on July 25, 1943. He preceded her in death on October 23, 1944 overseas during WWII. She married G. Norman Wyckoff on December 27, 1949. He preceded her in death on December 17, 1973.

Hazel worked at Jansen’s Department Store for over 20 years. She was a dog lover and was happiest when surrounded by her family and their dogs. She was an avid quilter of many beautiful quilts in her lifetime. Hazel also enjoyed cooking and baking delicious meals for her family. She was a die-hard Cardinals fan. She was a member of Shumway United Methodist Church.

Hazel is survived by her son, Roger (Kay) Wyckoff and her daughters, Ann (Donnie) Roedl and Ellen (Dennis) Broom all of Effingham; grandchildren, Patrick (Brandie) Roedl, Christopher (Julie) Roedl, Brian (fiancée, Shelby Jones) Roedl, and David (fiancée, Amber Lilley) Wyckoff; great-grandchildren, Ashley Roedl, Kaitlyn Brown, Karsyn Brown, Blake Roedl, Jacob Roedl, Ava Jones, Kierra Breer, Eli Lilley, and Dennis Wyckoff all of Effingham; sister-in-law, Alberta Webb; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gerald and Doris Wyckoff; and many nieces and nephews.  

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; brothers, Dorse (Catherine) Rogers, Charles (Violet) Rogers, Lon (Olive) Rogers, and Baine (Evelyn) Rogers; sisters, Lillie (Walter) Huffer, and Alice Rogers in infancy; granddaughter, Deborah Wyckoff Carzoo; sisters-in-law, Thelma (Clyde) Harder and Mary (Kenneth) Hirtzel.
