Gloyd O. “Jethro” Shipley, 69, of Louisville, Illinois formerly of Breese, Illinois passed away peacefully in his sleep at 1:15am Monday, December 16, 2019, holding hands with his wife Doris at his home in Louisville. 

Mr. Shipley was born in Breese, Illinois on June 19, 1950, to the late Orvin and Lorene (Rolfingsmeyer) Shipley. He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1971 and served until 1977 as an aviation structural mechanic. He married Doris Smithey on December 30, 1993 in Effingham. 

He is survived by his wife of almost 26 years, Doris Shipley, and their six children; son, Gloyd DuWayne (Andrea) Shipley of Salem. Son David Yingst Jr. (Theresa) of Gillette, Wyoming, daughter Tracy Thompson (George) of Edgewood, daughter Jennie Yingst (Mike Shock) of Noble, daughter Angela Shipley of Edgewood, and daughter Bonnie Fender (Wayne) of Louisville; fifteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Also, sisters Kay Durbin (Ray) of Kiln, Mississippi, and Della Jo Calvert (Allen) of Taylorville. He is also survived by many more family and friends.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Cecil Shipley, and great-granddaughter Anastasia Wooters. He was also predeceased by his K-9 companion of fourteen years, Roberta “Bert” Samuela. 

A celebration honoring the life of Gloyd O. “Jethro” Shipley will be held at 2:30 pm Saturday, December 21 at Triplett & Neal Funeral Home in Louisville. Pastor George Coble will officiate. Visitation will be held from 1:30 pm until the time of services on Saturday. Military rites will be accorded, and District 109 Representative Darren Bailey will play taps. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations in Jethro's name be made to Clay County Hospice, VA Home Healthcare Team, or the Clay County Breast Cancer Crusaders.
