Glenn Harlow “Shorty” Fehrenbacher, age 87, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 7:50 PM Tuesday, December 3, 2019, at Newton Care Center in Newton, Illinois.

Funeral services celebrating Glenn’s life will be held 1:00 PM Sunday, December 8 at Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois, with Rev. Steve Willis officiating. Burial will be in the Honey Cemetery in Bogota, Illinois. Visitation will be held 3:00-5:00 PM Saturday. Glenn was born on March 24, 1932, in Ingraham, Illinois, the son of Howard and Francis (Lake) Fehrenbacher. He married Glenda Scott on November 13, 1950, in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, and she preceded him in death on July 20, 2018.

Glenn worked for many years as a logger with his father and brother-in-law. Glenn drove a truck for Holt’s, as well as for Smallwood Township. Glenn also worked for Illinois Breeding Coop. In the mid 60’s, Glenn became an ordained minister, serving in the Ingraham Baptist Church, Sailor Springs Baptist Church, and the Freedom Baptist Church of Noble for 32 years. Glenn was a member of the Bogota Baptist Church. 

Glenn loved spending his time horseback riding and trading horses for that perfect one. Glenn was also an avid coon hunter. There were many horse and dog stories that were shared often. “Odie,” “Shooter,” and “Sibby” were very special dogs of his.

Glenn was loved and will be missed by his four children, Lana (Merle) Royse of Olney, Illinois; Brenda (James) Robinson of Newton, Illinois; Jeff (Linda) Fehrenbacher of Newton, Illinois and Penny (James) Carman of Oblong, Illinois. Grandchildren – Derek (Marla) Royse, Leslie (Austin) Calico, Chris Hasler (friend Red), Michael (Allison) Hasler, Sonja (Heather) Heinzel, Lindsay (Scott) Burton, Stacey Stephens, Jesse (Kaitlin) Stephens, Cody (Jamie) Carman and several step grandchildren. 10 great grandchildren and several step and adoptive great grandchildren. 4 great-great grandchildren and several step great-great grandchildren. 3 surviving siblings Elda (Don) Stanley of Ingraham, Blaine (Ruth) Fehrenbacher of Buda, TX, Randy (Mary Pat) Fehrenbacher of Dalton City, IL. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, Glenda, a sister Norma Jean Turnipseed, and a son-in-law Lance Hasler.
